At Bart Adaptive Sports Center, the well-being of our participants has remained at the forefront of our minds throughout the pandemic. The question we now face – how do we safely and effectively return to in-person programs in the winter operations, while continuing to protect the health and wellness of our community?
According to the CDC, “Disability alone may not be related to a higher risk for getting COVID-19 or having severe illness. Most people with disabilities are not inherently at higher risk for becoming infected with or having severe illness from COVID-19. However, some people with disabilities might be at a higher risk of infection or severe illness because of their underlying medical conditions. Adults with disabilities are three times more likely than adults without disabilities to have heart disease, stroke, diabetes, or cancer than adults without disabilities.” This information alone, reminds us to proceed with a higher level of caution, and that being “first” in your community should be avoided. We will take the benefit of some time to learn from other effective strategies, plan carefully, train your providers and form local partnerships that help prepare for the safest possible environment.
Bart Adaptive Sports Center will follow CDC and the Vermont Department of Health, as well as any guidelines set forth from the Recreation Department in Manchester along with the golf course for summer operations.
Our summer programming will start on June 6, 2022 through September 30, 2022.
Tuesdays will be spent at Dana Thompson Park in Manchester Vermont doing our cycling experience from 10:00 am-12:00 pm.
Thursdays are reserved for cycling in Bennington on the Ninja Trail located at the Walmart parking lot, we are available from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
Wednesday's we will be hosting our golfing program, both the time and location is to be determined. We will teach you the basics of the game of golf, work on technique and actual play of this challenging but fun and active sport. No clubs No worries we have some for you to use.
